Marketing safety / Guide 10

Turn an AI marketing claim into a checkable business decision.

A creator demo can reveal a useful workflow without proving the cost, result, legality, reliability, or customer impact. Use six checks before you buy, connect, automate, or repeat it.

The internet rewards speed, surprise, and giant outcomes. A business needs something slower and more useful: a defined job, approved inputs, a truthful claim, a safe action boundary, and a result it can actually observe.

The six-check flight path

01

Business job

Rewrite the hook as a boring job: recover missed calls, draft one review request, create a first landing-page outline, or summarize campaign questions.

Artifact: one-sentence job
02

Approved inputs

List the public, owned, or explicitly authorized data required. Remove secrets, private profiles, customer records, and unnecessary identifiers.

Artifact: input and permission list
03

Claim class

Label the idea as first-party documentation, internal test, independent reproduction, creator claim, inference, or unknown.

Artifact: claim ledger
04

Rules and trust

Check platform policy, consent, disclosure, rights, privacy, accessibility, and regulated-industry boundaries before selecting tools.

Artifact: rule check
05

Human gate

Define what AI prepares, what a person approves, how the action stops, and what record proves the review occurred.

Artifact: permission card
06

Observable test

Record the baseline, test window, cost, quality signal, safety signal, and the keep, improve, pause, or stop rule.

Artifact: test receipt

Translate the hooks

Internet hookUseful translationProof required
“24/7 AI marketing team”Which bounded tasks run, on what schedule, using which approved sources?Run log, error rate, human review time, tool and model cost.
“Made $20K from cold leads”Did the workflow recover qualified conversations that later produced attributable revenue?Baseline, sample, consent, attribution window, exclusions, and repeatability.
“Website in minutes”How quickly can a draft be produced before facts, accessibility, rights, analytics, and conversion QA?Published-quality checklist and observed customer path.
“Only asks happy customers”Does the workflow selectively route positive reviewers and suppress negative feedback?Reject review gating; use one genuine request policy for customers.
“Replace the marketing team”Which preparation tasks can be accelerated while strategy, judgment, relationships, and accountability remain human?Role map, escalation path, failure log, and quality comparison.

Bright-line rejects

Do not adopt

  • Review gating or selectively sending satisfied customers to public review sites.
  • Invented customers, testimonials, screenshots, experience, or business results.
  • Hidden automated outreach, replies, comments, follows, or direct messages.
  • Unverified revenue, conversion, ranking, health, lending, insurance, legal, or investment claims.
  • Workflows that require exporting browser cookies, credentials, or private profiles.

Good first tests

  • Draft a response from approved business facts and require a human send.
  • Turn one verified source into three channel-native drafts.
  • Audit stale listing facts without changing accounts.
  • Summarize campaign questions into a weekly decision memo.
  • Build a local prototype using synthetic data and record the failures.

Run the reality check

Copy-ready evaluator prompt

Evaluate this AI marketing idea for [business]: [idea]. Do not assume the creator or vendor claims are true. Return: the bounded business job, required inputs and permissions, claim-by-claim evidence class, platform and customer-trust risks, regulated-industry concerns, safe AI preparation tasks, required human gates, rollback plan, observable test, cost variables, failure modes, and an adopt / bounded test / research / reject recommendation. Do not post, send, buy, create accounts, change records, or use private data.
Current social signalA signed-in public search pass on X, Reddit, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube found strong demand for lead follow-up, content workflows, local-business automation, and AI agents. It also found review-gating patterns, generic-output criticism, distrust, and large unverified outcome claims. The evidence is recorded in the project research ledger.

Keep the useful idea. Remove the unsafe story.
